My 500 should be arriving next week or the week after and I took the optional Hi-Fi interscope sound system.

Have you gotten the system?
If yes, what are your experiences?
How does it sound? And how are the in-car acoustics?

It sounds fantastic! Worth every penny :)

It is not bad - but I would say it is inferior to the 'standard' system in my 6 year old Audi A2.

It would be nice to be able to get my IPOD to play through it - but that is a different 'Blue & Me' story!

I would have to say I disagree with you. My 'standard' 500 system with Blaupunkt sub is a lot better than I remember my old A2 system and the last standard VW/Audi system I had in my £27K R32 was a disgrace:yuck:

But of course it's all a matter of personal opinion.

I think the system as it comes from the factory is very good from a car anywhere near it's price range & with the relatively easy (thanks to the guys on here) install of a sub for a mere £99 it's very, very good.

Yes - it is all a matter of opinion.

But what I would say is that if FIAT had been honest in their brochure and stated that the addition of Interscope resulted in the deletion of the passenger seat storage then I would have:

1. Not bothered specifying Interscope.
2. Been supplied a car with underseat storage.
3. Paid less than £250 for a better upgrade.

My opinion - don't bother with Interscope.

Mike

You haven't lost the passenger seat storage because of interscope. You have lost it because of leather trim i'm betting you have!

Just read this, thought i would share it.

http://www.motiontrends.com/2007/m07...terscope.shtml

"The original sound system has six speakers: two 30 Watt tweeters and four full-range (two 40 Watt and two 35 Watt).
......
The new Interscope Sound System comprises six speakers (two tweeters, two woofers and two full-range, all 40 W), one 100 W sub-woofer and a 30 W amplifier. What makes the sound experience on board the car unique is the fact that the Interscope Sound System uses 3 different methods of processing the signal and the related acoustic effects simultaneously."

it is looking more and more likely that you do lose the underseat storage if you have interscope regardless of what interior you have (n) me and a few other owners on the forum are currently awaiting a responce from fiat u,k regarding this, as its not stated anywhere in any of the brochures/order forms/configurators that it gets deleted.

I've just been at my local dealer to top up my brake fluid, and they had a Lounge 1.4, with the standard check seats. Cha-Cha blue, and very cute indeed. Loved it - except for the wheels that is:rolleyes:

It had only one extra that I could see - Interscope.

I looked under the seats and there was the little sub woofer, under the driver's seat. There was a bit of wiring loom stuff under the passenger one too, but still plenty of space as far as I could see. The seat storage, however, was deleted, even with the standard cloth seats. The salesperson confirmed this.

So there you have it confirmed: Interscope deletes the seat storage.

Obviously the leather option has always negated the storage.

To be fair to Fiat they don't make a particular song and dance about it. A lot of people who have bought the car didn't know it existed.

Personaly I think people are making far too much of the underseat storage. Yes it's occasionally useful but hardly an essential item or deal breaker.

It would be for me.
Where else does the sat-nav or camera go?
I'd like the Interscope, but not if it meant losing the only safe storage place accessible to the driver in the car.

If the seat was lockable there might be a point but the valubles are only out of sight and not securely retained, plus you can't access the storage whilst people are in the seat.

The storage area will soon become common knowledge amongst the criminal fraternity so you may as well just put your valubles under the seat rather than in it!

Myself I would never relay on the seat storage compartment to hold expensive items whilst not in the car and I would advise anyone thinking of doing so to think again.

Even if an opportunistic thief knew about the storage under the seat, I don't think he would presume it was full of valuables, anymore so than in the boot or in a glovebox.

Maybe, but nobody knows if you have put something there, and anyway if it was lockable if someone can break into the car they would be able to break into the seat. Having the storage compartment keeps things from rolling out from under the seat. My problem is :- has anyone managed to get something out from the seat storage if there is someone sitting in the seat - if so could they post the action on Youtube?

Ensonricky - with respect, you are missing the point.

A lot of people do look at the advertised spec of a car and know what to expect when it arrives.

If FIAT decide to charge £250 for an Interscope upgrade and (for no good reason) delete this otherwise standard feature feature then they should have the good grace to publicise this before you buy (in the brochure) - not just let you find out when your special order car turns up.

I have chosen the leather option and lost the underseat storage which was not made clear. Do I give a monkey's - No.

This is such a minor issue concerning a minor item of limited useability. Not really worth getting aireated about and losing sleep over.

Get over it and enjoy the car for what it does best - Driving.

With respect.

the 500 has no glove box so the underseat is sort of a replacement you will quickly realise that without it you can not leave anything in the car e/g, cd's mp3 player for blue&me, sunglasses. if you'r leather seats come without rear head rests i bet you will be complaining

Rear headrests don't interest me either, just spoil an already restricted rear visibilility. They do come with the leather option btw.:)

Life is too short, put the sun glasses on your head or stow them in the open glove box and drive or you will all complain yourselves to an early death.
