AIR BAG LIGHT ON. NOW AN MOT FAILURE. FIAT SAID I NEED A NEW ECU. THAT APPARENTLY WHAT HAS FAILED. EVERYTHING ELSE WORKS FINE, FIAT PUNTO DYNAMIC DUEL LOGIC 1.2 8V. 2004.

I would get a second opinion from a FIAT specialist - not one of their dubious main-dealers..,
Yuo can get reworked ECU's for @£200,
but you may find somebody who knows what they are doing can fix it for a LOT less,
post in the Punto section for a more involved response,

what they will have meant is you need a new Airbag ECU, which can be bought on Ebay for very little money. £20ish? then someone to fit it for you. before you do all this and because of the age of the car please take it to someone to make sure this is the fault, a lot of these 2004 cars have a problematic wire that connects the passenger airbag isolation switch (on the end of the dash if you open the passenger door) and more often than not all it takes is to have the fault cleared on the ECU
This will confirm for you if its just a fault or if it is something else. also your other post said you'd had an accident which could also mean one or more airbag is now at fault even though they didn't deploy

did they actually fail its mot? it shouldn't have failed an mot yet
