General HGT Centre Consol 'creak'

In the central consol on my Punto there's a climate control unit. Now I've had this nasty 'plasticky' creaking sound coming from the dash for a few weeks now and I'm pretty sure it's the climate control unit. I'd like to remove it and maybe but something sofe round it to stop it creaking, but thought I'd just ask how it's removed so I don't snap anything off or anything? Or should I take it to a dealer so they can do it?

there should be two screws under the console tray and one either side of the console, where the slits are for air to flow. By your feet, drivers and passengers side. Its easy to do! After you have taken them out just grip it and give it a pull, should just pop out. I dont know about the noise, sorry. But is peasy removing console. Good luck!

Oops sorry may not have made myself clear, I don't want to take the whole console out, just the Climate Control unit thing, is there a way it'll just slide out (in the same way a head unit slides out)? Or do you actually have to do as you say by remving the whole centre console to get to it?

No, i think you have to remove the whole console.... ?!! Prehaps someone else will know? Sorry I couldnt be of anymore help.
