Hi guys, as you may has recently read, i now have a HGT 155, when i boot it, it seems to rev a lot for very little go but only sometimes? am i right in thinking that it's the maf that causes this? and does the VIS system change over at 3krpm?
Cheers :)

from what I remember chap the 155 picks up at 2.8k and 5.9k, it's been a while tho....

if you say you put your foot down and it revs but nothing happens it sounds like a clutch-slip
put it in 5th at 30ish mph and then put your foot down and see if it revs.

My maf on my JTD is on the way out and all what that does is pull to 3.8k, then the revs slow down like a 'blank spot' on the rev range then it picks back up after 3.1k

oh and if it doesn't pull over 6k i changed my air filter (just a new OEM one) and that allowed it to pull better

It's not clutch slip, i tried the pulling off in 4th and it would not have it. sounds like the MAF from what youve said, where can i get one from? Was gonna swap it over from my marea, but the marea one is different, cause it's a 147bhp engine?
Cheers

Mine does that on occasion...
Wouldnt really rev over 4.5k, and stuttered a bit at that point.

Running really well now and pulling faultlessly now up to 6k+.
Havnt done anything to the engine so not sure what the issue was.

Make sure engine is nice and hot before revving it tho

Ah right, hopefully this goes away, i have orderd some "MAF cleaner", see if that helps :) way i see it can't get any worse haha!

how did you get on with cleaner?

Could you just use petrol to clean it?

@Ant - best is to use car engine cleaner, or glass cleaner they dont leave any sticky residue so the maf gets all dirty again.

Literally turned up today, and tbh, looks like re-bottled glass cleaner haha!

Will put it on in a bit then let you know over the next few days!

dont they say dont clean them? as once it is cleaned itll never give the correct readiing? Best of just buying a new one.
ive seen loads of posts about this over on FF.

A Fiat Marea in a Bravo Shell :)
MOT next month now

So the cleaner smelt like vinegar and tbh has done nothing whatsoever, so i have a new MAF sat here waiting to go on tonight :) They are on ebay atm genuine bosch ones, mine came sealed in the box, for £90. See how we go with that :)

i have notice mine does this sometimes too, so i may need a new maf, my gold was quicker than no frills and the rat 2.

With regards to Robin's comment about varying engines - I reckon there's quite a difference between each engine (even if same type) that becomes apparent after manufacturing. Sometimes works in your favour, sometimes not :)
