Hello, car is 2001 1.2 8v, 135k but always ran perfectly. For the past rew months i have noticed that every so often when rollling off the throttle a funny kind of hesitance/judder ,also some times a bit sluggesh in the morning when cold. Today the engine management light came on and stayed on, it does not really feel any different to normal. I presume the two issues are linked?

I suppose it is a sensor somewhere, any ideas from the symptoms? Or should i get the fault codes looked at?

Thanks, Tom.

Thanks for the replies.

I took the air filter off, it's looks a little black and oily in there, i presume the little pipe from the head cover to the air filter housing in a breather that recirculates the breather air back through the engine and oil mist/residue gets into the throttle body that way. What is the best way to clean it all up?

After that I decided to check as many electrical plugs to all the sensors dotted around the engine, i just just unplugged them and checked them visually for corrosion etc. They all looked perfect, those sealed plugs really work well don't they? Once i had checked them all I started the engine and hey presto no engine managemant light! I ran it for 5 minutes and it did not come on, I presume the fault is still there so I will still get the codes read.
