just spent £600 on a new ECU as was away from home when it went - car drives fine & I made it back home (120 miles) fuel consumption was as expected no juddering etc BUT the engine management light is still flashing. Th e guy at the garage told me it was fine and that it will just go ...didn't believe him but needed to get home its a PO 1300 code phonic wheel adaptation (?), :bang:, have a knackered my car ??

not my first choice of garage but its where the AA towed me. My car is a 51 reg (2001?) and a 1.2 thanks for the reply i'm gutted at spending that much and i'm sure he took the mikey because he knew i was far from home and needed it fixed that day

2 questions.
did you get the old parts?,
did you pay by credit card?

if you didn't get the parts, or see shiny new stuff fitted ,
contact ;
1, the AA ,
2, your card company

chances are it was just coil packs that you needed ( @£50 /£100) they are on the end of the engine = next to battery,

garage should've got it running well, AND have no EML showing,
to send you away with the light on is POOR,
and you've got good grounds for a bill reduction - at least,

after 1+ 2 have got back to you,
the local to garage trading standards = assuming you've not resolved the issue.

good luck, do let us know how things go,

Charlie

Thanks I did have the coil pack replaced less than 6 months ago from a garage i trust, the AA man told me it was the ECU too ...do you think I should still complain ? i do feel i was taken advantage off ...is the fault easily cleared ?
