can changing the timeing belt increase performance and/or economy its like well over due 3 years over due and 1000 miles overdue.

sod performance just change it before it brakes and the pistons smack in to the valves bending them and braking the piston head

pretty sure its a non-interferance engine andy...

3yrs an 1000miles over due!!!

get it done!!!!!!!!

wont help performance/economy at all but when it snaps youll have to do it anyway and you could be out at night when its raining and cold... no fun

if it snaps the valves wont move at right speed but the momentum of the pistons going round will carry on so if the valves dont move the piston might hit the valve dunno what the clearance is like on a sei but if a valve is all the way down chances are its going to whack it depending on the clearance like i say no idea what it is but better safe then sorry i guess

ill say it slower... mr booth will be safe from any kind of head damage (unless its been skimmed passed the max marks)

1108 engines are non-interferance! (this means that if the cambelt snaps there will be no damaged caused to valvetrain or pistons) if your still in doubt... google it

the only tihng you need to worry about with the belt is if it snaps you may be far far away from home and cost a bomb to get recovered... if you have the cash and you have a afternoon swap it over :)

i dont think ive ever worked on a car that has but then again ive only really worked on rubbish old ones that probable have been skimmed alot a 2001 corsa c came in once smashed his rubbish 3 cylinder ecotec engine cost him 1500 for a refurbished engine he had to run his nova for agis bought it in for a servis it wasent very pretty to look at im guessing he liked coursas he wanted his b on the road but he need all new brakes and dident wanna get them done so he stuck to his nova

corsas are chain driven and are a complete nightmare to change the chain on a good day he probably saved himself some money gettin a new engine TBH apparently vauxhall quote between £300-£800 pounds to do the chain

ford explores are epic looking machines changing a chain guide can b fairly easy depending were they are on the corsa it was between the cams guessing it will b there on the ford to just take it out put a new one in if not take it to a better garage some garages just take the **** rip of people and dont do there job right thats why its a good trade to lean or learn on the side the simplest fixed can cost a bomb in some garages :p

still a pretty involved job on the corsa theres a lot to do just to get to the damm thing and thats why they dont like it but anyways :Offtopic: this is the the forum for talk on all things FIAT after all :slayer:
