Hi All

Been a few years since i last last logged on and owened a Fiat (2006)

I have been offered a 2007 Fiat Bravo 1.9 m-jet 150 Dynamic with 102K miles on the clock, very clean car and has service history, 1 owner from new etc all for a great price of £1500

But theres a catch, the turbo has gone. (uses all the oil and thick blue smoke from the exhaust)

I have not bought the car yet as i have a few questions i need to sort.

Hopfuly someone can help me on here.

I am handy with spaners etc and changed my Turbo on my Renault Megane 1.9 DCI so i can say i have experance.

So........

1, Are they easy enough to do with normal tools on a drive way?
2, Is there anything else to look at just incase its not the turbo?
3, For the price + new turbo is it worth it?
4, Any ideas on were to get a new / re-con turbo from and at what cost?
5, If i buy it and do the turbo, is there anything else worth changing and therefor alow for it in the bugget.

Im hoping i can buy the car for £1500 and put about £500 - £600 + blood, sweat and tears in to it with a return of a car worth £3000 - £3500

Any help will be great even it is walk away.

Many thanks
Michael

Dynamic is poverty spec plus it's a gamble because you don't know what caused turbo failure and also what other damage you might find once up and running

If it had been well serviced, the turbo wouldn't have blown IMO so the service history is relative

Best of luck
