i would be greatful if anyone can offer advice on this.

I have asked H for help, he has helped me as much as he can but i am still having problems.

For about a week i havent been able to use my laptop on the internet at home, at Hs its fine.

It wouldnt lock onto our home wireless network and kept telling me it couldnt connect but wouldnt ask for the network key

Anyway thanks to some advice from H i have managed to lock onto oour connection but then after about 15 minutes it knocks itself off and i lose the connection, it wont lock on so i have to restart my laptop and its ok for another 15mins.

will take a screen grab soon when it does it again.

anyone have any idea whats going on? the other laptops connect fine, i have tested them.

thanks

sammi

Surely the answer is to just stay at mine all the time. :D

right i am trying to work out these screen shots now lol.

i know one of them said that i wasnt connected in the top right but in the small writing it said you are connected to this network but my wireless would have a cross on it but i was still online then after about 5 mins it would knock me off.

I have spent ages trying to get back on again, i have deleted and reconnected to it again. started from scratch, i just dont understand why it knocks off after a few mins when its locked on before and the connection is there

are you using a long wep key? i was having problems with mine as the key was a little too long and causing problems with transfer. Reduced it and it was ok, although the major underlying problem was the access point's power supply

As arc said, try changing the channel its on. sometimes it gets interfered with by wireless phones etc.

This is a long shot, but do you have outlook open and set the automatically check messages after a certain period.

I had it once when Outlook was set to disconnect after checking messages and for some reason this disconnected the wireless network as well.
