General Help Urgent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

was driving back from college today about 10 mintes away from home i hear this sratching sound coming from the left hand side i found everytime i put it in second gear and was picking up thie sound got louder please help whats happend its a punto mark 2 please help alll sounds really bad if i drive slow in first gear cant hear it whe i change to second and go a bit quicker it becmoes loud????????

did the noise go when you dipped the clutch?

yes the nosie does go when i dip the clutch??? pleaase tell me its not that bad???

well if it had stayed then it would have been a rotational noise such as at the wheel.if it goes with the clutch then its more than likely gearbox noise!
not really my speciality but someone else will have the info

Depends if its the gearbox or the clutch. If its the clutch then it could be anywhere from £150 to £250 depending where you go. If its the gearbox you would replace the clutch as well as a matter of course so would prob end up costing anywhere from £350 to ??????.
