Hi,
Any information anyone can provide on an engine in my 1970 Fiat 500 with these markings?

Behind the fan belt to the right of the fuel pump:
Fiat 126 A4 000
9325511

(not sure if it is A4- seems to be a smaller font size?)

And on top of the engine:
AK64M
650

Is this a 650cc engine off a 126? What year might it be?

Thanks
PC

As far as I am aware, the 2 engines used in the 126 were the 594cc engine used in the Mk1 '126 type "126A .000" (also used in the 500R) and the 652cc engine used in the Mk2 version of the 126, type "126A1 .000". I think that you will need to clean the engine-number panel and re-check the number. Try giving a good rub-over with 'scotch-brite', which is also marketed as "artificial wire wool". It will clean an alloy surface without leaving score marks on the surface.
As to age of the engine, I wanted to know this about the 652cc engine that I have in the back of my 500. Upon speaking to the relevant person at Fiat UK, I was advised that whilst they can 'age' a body, they CANNOT 'age' an engine precisely.
