Hi I have a few things I would like help on I live in aberdeen and I am looking for a company that sells falcon tyre,s for my car. The other thing is I know that checkpoint sold them but know they are closed have they moved or went bust. The other thing is my car due a service it got 35k on clock and was wondering what good garages there are in Aberdeen apart from Arnold Clark as I don't like them. Your help would be great full thanks

Could you not order the tyres from Blackcircles and get someone to fit them?

Is your car still under warranty and how far are you willing to travel for a service?

Have you tried Laws in the Bridge of Don mate?

Find a good independent and you're laughing. Not sure about the ones up North, but the one I found was a godsend after the nightmare of Arnold Clark. I do think it's down to personal experiences though as I've heard some Fiat dealers are perfectly fine and a fellow FS'er Andi's had a run in with the independent I use, so apparently their not perfect either.

I'd go the DIY route myself apart from wanting the stamps in the book and service reminder reset, though the latter I think you can get an OBD tool that'll reset that.

As for tyres, as said you should be able to order online from somewhere or over the phone and get them sent to a tyre fitter near you. Blackcircles offer pretty much the cheapest deals I've seen and you can actually pay for the fitting online in advance, choosing where you want the tyres to be sent near you.

Indeed, figured I'd tell the full story as I didn't want to give the impression that independent garages are the last word in automotive repair.

Aye I gathered that.

There are some independent garages who will just try & rip you off.
Unfortunatley we have had it happen to the Doblo, went for an MOT (It's 1st MOT) back in 2008, took it to a garage in Troon that we had been recomended to, when I got home that afternoon/ evening I was told by my Step- dad that the Garage had Failed the Doblo's MOT, on it's brakes.... the car was only 3yrs old, the Garage owner claimed that there was less then 3mm on the front pads, which was a load of B*** ****, so I went down to Troon with my Step- dad as the garage owner was witholding the MOT Certificate & other paper's to do with the Car, which you can't do.
Long story short, Step- dad lost his temper (nothing new there) & the garage owner threatend to beat the pair of us up with a breaker bar.
Went to the Old Bill, step- dad still in a rage, took me 5- 10mins to calm him down, so I spoke to the Police & told them exactly what had just happened & who it was that had threatend us, the officer told us to go to VOSA as there's a VOSA Test station in Kilmarnock.
Spoke to an officer at the Vosa test center who explained thet the MOT couldn't be done at the site as they Tested HGV's, but would pass all the info we had given them onto his boss in Glasgow.
Next day we get a call asking if we could take the Doblo to National Tyres in Kilmarnock, the following Monday as it would be MOT tested by a VOSA officer/ tester.
Garage owner from Troon was there, along with My Step- dad & me, as I had followed in the Panda.
MOT test got done, VOSA tester came into the waiting room & asked to the MOT Failure certificate, & destroyed it as the Doblo had passed with NO problems.
Few times when either My Step- dad or I have been in Troon we have had near misses going past this guy's garage, he has follwed me in a customer's 4x4, when I had the Seicento.... left him standing at a set of traffic lights.
Then of course as you know Rob I was very unfortunate with Chic.
If the GP has any problems (god forbid) then it's still under Fiat's warrenty untill end of November, but then Bridgend have also given me 2yrs servicing & 2yrs MOT.
