Our Multipla won't go in gear. It broke down and the AA recoved the car. They said clutch but as I wasn't there I don't know if it's the plates or the hydraulic mechanism ?? When it was stuck in first the pedal had no affect but the car was moving forward. It had been hard to get in gear on a few ocations the previous day. I don't want to put £400 worth of clutch plates in it if it may be something else??
Any help would be great! Thanks

Hi,
AFAIK most Multi's have a slave on the TOP of the gearbox,
so worth checking the fluid level,
then have a feel / look to see if g-box is oily..

problem selecting over days points to the engaging..rather than worn out ( slipping):)

Quite likely a hydraulic issue.
Last year there were a couple of owners with a similar problem. One I think turned out to be master and slave cylinders, the other the metal pipe between the two cylinders. So check the pipe across the back of the engine bay.

With help, get someone to press the clutch while you see if the slave on the top of the gearbox does what it should. Standard initial diagnosis, disappointing if the AA guy didn't do this.

Thanks! Unfortunately I wasn't there when the AA attended. My wife said he said it's the clutch and its hydrolic so it's the cars a write off?
Thanks for the advice!
