ok... so i went ahead and brought myself a HGT yesturday... very nice...

just a few little niggly bits wrong with it, which i hope i can fix soon enough..

firstly.. the remote cental locking / alarm botton / key fob thingy dosent work. the dealer told me it was just batteries and i hope he's right. so what do i do and where do i go to fix this little problem.

secondly, and probably more important.. the break warning light on the dash has started to ever so faintly flicker alittle as i push down on the (really hard feeling) foot break.

any ideas... does anyone know if kwik fit or natonal tires would look at it as part of the break testing thingy..?

thanks everyone..

Tim. ( a proud HGT owner) :0)

Take it back.

Possibly the battery is flat - why didn't the dealer replace it?

Your pads need changing - tale it back and get them to chang ethem as it shouldn't have been sold needing new pads. Use it as bargaining power for some money back.

is that defonatly what the faintly flickering break warning light is telling me.? new pads.? i just wana be as sure as possable before i go back shooting the odds. lol.

what might new break pads cost, and a new key fob if its not just the battaries that are flat.?

thanx. Tim

I can only go from past experience and when pressure is applied to the brake pedal, of course the pads connect with the disc; the low level indicator tells you on your dash that teh pads are very worn and need replacing - the icon is a red circle with broken lines going around the exterior circumference. As a guide, I recently replaced an Alfa Cloverleaf front pads myself, they were £38 for both front pairs. I would imagine that the HGT's would be similarly preiced, but avoid a FIAT dealer as they're pricey.

The batteries in the remotes last quite a while, however they do fade. Carefully take the remote apart, remove the battery, clean all connections and replace the battery. All shoudl be well. If not take it back.

Does your rear wiper motor work?

with the keys if replacing the batteries doesn't work, you can pop the circuit board in the fob out and check the switch, which should be soldered on to the board (so its under the button on the key). BOTH switches came off my keys within about a week of each other - soldering them back on is fine.
