Help opening the bonnet!!!!

My first question is has anyone here had they battery dishcharge for no reason, as mine did at 2 in the morning on my way home!

and secondly the bonnet release cable is strethced as the red holder thingy is hanging near my clutch, however the bonnet is slightly ajar just enough to reach the catch that releases the bonnet but ive tried playing with it but to no succes

i was wondering if someone could let me know how to open the bonnet so i can either jump start the car or change the battery

My bonnet jammed shut a while back (another one of problems with my beloved fiat)
I spoke to a local mechaninc about it and he suggested giving the bonnet a hearty knock just above the fiat logo (pushing the bonnet back toward the windscreen)... lo and behold it worked and the bonnet opened with ease just after....
