Hello,
I'm after some ideas of what could be wrong with my car.
It's an R Reg 1.4 Brava and has developed a fault.
- A few days ago an occasional knocking sound started when moving and turning right - more usually when full lock or near full lock was applied. This started at about the same time as I lost my back box, so I put it down to something being loose underneath.
- The noise increased so that the occasional knocking sounded more like a roulette wheel when turning. The noise is stronger when turning right but does now sometimes occur when turning left. The noise sounds like it's coming from the passenger side front wheel arch.
- Driving along the motorway today the car was pulling to the left in a juddering motion, I could feel the judder and was fighting it to keep the car in a straight line. Slowed right down and got the car home. The juddering ceased.
- Jacked the car up, no play in either of the front wheels and when spinning the wheel by hand there was no sign of a judder or any strain on the wheel. Neither was there a knocking noise.
- Took the car for a quick trip out, no juddering. The noise is still there when turning, more apparent when turning at slower speed.
Any ideas? The car sailed through it's MOT a month ago and I'd rather ask you guys before shelling out for the mechanic to take a look.
