HELP Need to identify fault code

Hi again, I plugged the code reader back in today still no error code (have to add the engine management light is still off :)) only other option I can test for is I/m readiness, but no info is available.

Any idea what I/m readiness is/means?

Readiness test is relating to the lambda sensors it will only give you full results once its in closed loop

How do I get it to close loop.

Thanks again for your help and sorry if I'm being a pain.

all petrol vehicles start in open loop then automatically go in to close loop when they have been running for a bit

Hi code reader arrived today. I have scanned the car for fault codes but none were found, (strange as engine management was lit) I selected to erase codes non the less and this has extinguished the engine management light.

Fingers crossed it doesn't return.

Any one have any ideas why there was no fault code?

Thanks

Hi, :)

back to basics..,

no code + engine runs normally (y)

the GP's have a habit of getting damp / corrosion into the fusebox under the bonnet,
due to a poorly fitted cover / lid,

you had the car valeted when it 1st happened,
bit too coincidental in my book,

check the fusebox cover, if at all damp , get the hairdryer in there.. plenty of info on all this in GP section,

let us know what you find,;)

As a side note for any terminal cleaning pop in to maplins and get a spray can of isopropyl alcohol also works brilliant for cleaning airflow meters

Hi All

Thanks again for your advice, I have checked the fuse box and it's bone dry. As part of the valet I pacifically told them not to wash under the bonnet (I would rather have a dirty working engine than a clean knackered one). The light is still out, so fingers crossed it stays that way.

Well it may just have been a glitch or it may just take a while to log it back in , it may just be running a tad on the rich side keep us posted on how it goes
Glad to be of help

Hi

Good news lights still out, bad news is my partner started the car this evening and there was no power steering, switched ignition off and on and its working fine.

Could this be why the engine management light was on?

Any idea what the fix is for this problem?

Could be an indication of an issue with the alternator signal
Not that it's not charging just the modules aren't sensing the load correctly

Bloody engine management light has came back on again. I have tried to read the code with my maxi scan ms309 but it says no codes are saved (not sure it is compatible with the vehicle). I have cleared the code yet again so will see if it comes back. Any advice on what the next step is, the car is running perfect but this is really annoying.

I've just been looking at an ops manual for your scanner
Sorry to say really don't think your going to sort it with it
It doesn't look like pending codes are in the menu , it's going to have to go on something a little more in depth unfortunately .

I would go back to basics,
check battery itself..,
then clamps, earth points , and then the alternator out put,

Hi I have taken the fiat to another garage (friend of a friend) who has plugged it in and got 00312 undocumented code. On speaking the the fiat dealer they say this is because it's not fiat software and it is a fiat fault code.

Unfortunately to add to this, the power steering issue has got worse, I have checked the charge rate which is a steady 14.2v even so I have decided to remove the alternator and get it checked. While I was on removing this I noticed oil under the air box, on further investigation the pipe under the air box is split and has been spitting oil out, could this be the engine management light issue?
