as the title says, i have had every light in the unit on to to heat it up but still the water is still there??

is there a guide as to how to take the light unit out? or is there anything i can do?

the car is an 05 reg 1.8 stilo if that makes any differance, really need some help, thanks alot guys, first reason that helps gets a free pint :) hehe

Mines and Asphals please :p

Could be a few reasons. Most commonly, rear cover isn't replaced correctly after a bulb change allowing water/condensation in.

Need to ideally remove headlamp and place in boiler room etc over night with rear cover off.

Other reason is possible damage to the unit allowing rain water in, causing the condensation build up.

If this is the case you'll probably find alot of water in the unit when you remove it and tip it up to allow it to drain out. I had this with an old unit, and turns out that there was a rather large puddle in the unit that was sitting below the reflector and couldn't be seen unit the unit was removed and placed at an angle.

Hope this helps.

Jon.

ahh right thanks alot mate, the reason for it was that the cover wasnt pluged in properly as i tryed to show a lad how to change the bulbs, and he didnt put it back on, im going to have a go at removing the lightunit and put in a heated room over night however its not that easy to get the unit off is it?? i can undo the top nut and the nut at the bottom but the grill is a tricky one and also it doesnt just lift out?

thanks alot guys :)

If you can get enough access (use a piece of flexible pipe?) you could try running the air from a hair dryer in the back of the light unit to dry out the condensation...

This ones easy to fix, remove the back light cover, put a couple of sachets of that stuff you get in almost all luggage, or sealed clothes bags from shops, and all electrical gear you can buy, silica gel? Comes in little 'Do Not Eat' bags Cant remember the correct name for toffee right now so I'm guessing. Its a drying agentn (dessicant). Removes moisture from air. Leave it in a week or so, it'll absorb the moisture from the lamp, and hey presto. Leave the srtuff in its bag, it'll work fine. Obviously only works if the seals are good. But in you case it'll be fine.

Beer plase!

Yeah, it is silica gel.

TBH, in this weather (heat) if leaving the lights on with the cover removed doesn't solve it I'd have said there is probably a puddle in there, and silica gel won't solve that.

Drop bumper is the best method of headlamp removal (y)

yeah theres a slight puddle in there however i will try the option you said, ill take a bulb out and put the sachet over there and leave the cover off, it cant do any harm to try technically.

the beer will come to any idea that has worked :p hehe

yeahh the cars at the garage atm for an oil leak so i havnt got it to take the bumper off hehe but mayby in the next couple of days :)

I must say, this worked for me. Tried it the other day over night and its clear as anything. Removed the saches and put another two in just as a preventative measure, proof will come when it rains. Though obviously you need to get all that water out before hand that collects behind the headlight cap.

I had the same problem on my 1.6 Dynamic with the nearside light.
Bugger to get off so I opened the bonnet and drilled two small holes in the black plastic part of the light at the top. Next day it was clear and as not returned since, that was back in May. If you take this route make sure the holes that you drill are small and are covered when the bonnet is closed......This allows the air to circulate and should keep it clear.#, I've been through numerous car washes with no problem........

Cheers....

Not the correct way of doing it though it is. Be interesting to see what your internal components look like this time next year with exposure they're not designed to get.
