Technical Help! Immobilizer problem after battery change

I think its all been said really. Though if you turn on ignition and code light comes on it means the key/immo/ECU are not communicating and it only needs about 4 wires to accomplish this task. The Fiat dealers are going to say
"Computer says immo fault, no red key so cant change immo alone, therefore you need ECU, immo, lock and keyset". What ECU you have?, I might have one here.

Having put everything back together again - the code light seems to be a lot more steady, only going off very rarely. I can only assume that while there might be a dodgy connection somewhere, its not the cause of the problem.

Car is a '97 (P reg) Fiat Brava 1.4 petrol. I can get a photo of the ECU later, but for now, I can tell you its a grey flat box, with a big rectangular connector on the front. Motronic is cast into the box, and the label is as follows:

BOSCH 960928 26SA4578
0261 204 405 810 66928 17361474
0 046 467 005 0 000

The last 000 is the biggest writing on the label.

Does that help identify it?

See how it goes. Got that ECU and got immo to go with it.. I can make up an identical pair from your immo information so that you can use your keys and change what parts you need.

Hi all

To be honest - and this may horrify many of you - taking apart cars isn't my favourite pasttime. Whats worse - the less I spend on my car, the better, so long as it goes reliably. Reddy4bed - please send me an email/message (or post here) with what bits I would need to send you and the costs.

I'm quite happy to keep the immo working if it is cost effective to get it working reliable. I'm also happy to get the immo disabled (as jug suggests) if its much cheaper, or a more reliable fix.

Cheers

Will

i take it from the website that you only need the immob code box?

i really think with some good publicity and promotion you could make a fortune out of this. and i hope you do (y)
