I just bought a second hand Fiat Marea Weekend 1.6. I found that the back door can not be opened with the key. Does any one know whether there is a way that I can open the back door inside of the car (just like push a button)?

you say back door but do you mean the tailgate?

if the handle is pushing up and not opening you can remove the interior trim from inside and turn the mech, if you mean the rear door.... well, you may need to elaborate....

Ry:)

A stuck tailgate is a common Marea Weekend problem. When it happened to me I held the handle up and clouted the tailgate close to the latches with the palm of my hand and that worked. You can see the latches if you look between the tailgat and the rear wings. I then got a lot of help on here and took the trim off and greased all the linkages. There is all the info you need in the archives.

you issue sounds different, my tailgate the handle goes up but it makes no attempt to move the mechanism so nothing happens, i have you get the handle back down fully and lock/unlock the car then i can usually open it.

really need to sort that out at some point

I have to turn the mechanism by hand.

If the button gets stuck I pull it down but still nothing happens. Looks like the little white box it connects to is bust

Bulldog if your going to smooth tailgate, you can get away with central locking solenoids instead of propper door poppers, there alot cheaper.
I fitted 2 solenoids to mine one for each latch, just make sure you get a good positive supply.
Can stick abit sometimes but looks good once done.

oh cool, thanks for the tip.

car has already been to the bodyshop and i told them to not bother smoothing it as i had gone off the idea.

it looks great on your car but i just can seem to convince myself to get it done to mine :chin:

It sounds similar, a long time ago but once I could get in there and grease everything it all worked fine from then on. AsI said there are hidden screws on the trime but it's all here. I will find the thread andpost it
