HElp. Engine Failure,

The scene - Driving along the country roads 50mp or so, comes to a bend puts on the brakes, Not much happens slows down very gradualy, thinks ****.

Pulls over car does the same, fails to brake with as much haste as i'd like,

Very slowly with hazards on drive it for 5 mins to g/f's work to pick her up, Stops to turn right and car conks out.

Thinks FFS.

Tries to start car and it is making the ost loud metal sounding tapping noise in the world, coming from the engine block.

I switched it off and had it recovered straight away,

Any suggestions as to the problem?

(checked cambelt it's fine)

Cambelt could have slipped, valve failure, piston failure, lots of expensive things....
