Hey guys...
right, i'll let you all know all the facts as i know nothing about this so here we go...
i get to work at 5pm, leave at 2am and get back to car at around half past 2.
When i left the car at half 4 in the afternoon, the car was in perfect working order.
At 2:30 there was fluid beneath right side of engine bay; clear fluid, wouldn't select a gear as the clutch pedal went straight to the floor (No pressure atall) and had to be towed home.
My dad had a look when he towed me home angrily at 3:30am... said its a hydraulic clutch by the looks and when i depress the clutch pedal he said nothing was moving in the engine bay around the clutch. The fluid he thinks is most likely my hydraulic clutch fluid as it is below the clutch and the clutch had some of the fluid on it.
I have no idea how to fix this, and right before christmas this has come at an awful time :(

Cheers Guys
James

Cheers... wheres the pipe? the car is 60mm lowered so a bastard to get under lol... and its a mk1 punto however the engine has been converted from a 1.2L 8v to 1.2L 16v if that makes a difference? and ive though slave cylinder..

There is a metal pipe leading form the master cylinder down to the LHS bulkhead under the battery. From there a flexible same as used on brakes connects to the slave cylinder.

The options are:
  1. The slave cylinder has failed. Fit a new one and bleed the system.
  2. Metal pipe has corroded. A new one can be run in copper alloy but needs special tools to flare the ends so get a garage on the case.
  3. The clutch pressure plate has failed and the slave has popped too far out.

Dont forget to top up the brake fluid (shared with clutch).

If the problem is (2) the system wont bleed and fluid will leak.
If the problem is (3) the slave pushrod will be too short or the piston will pop out again.

So change the slave and take it from there. If the clutch is US you will need one anyway.

Also get one of these.
