General Help Big Elec Prob

Ok , a newbie, ive trawled through the archives and have not seen anything which is similar to whats happened to the gf's Chink!
She was driving it yesterday and said that when she went to turn right (indicators on) the car stalled, she had foot on brake pedal.

Ok, bad earth i hear you say, mmmmmmmm thats what i thought, checked the fuses, firstly, then have spent most of today chasing the earth points from front to back.

since looking and not being successfull, disconnected rear nearside lights, and the engine cut out, then the rear windscreen wiper no longer works.

So in a nut shell, if the car is running and the footbrake is depressed, the car stalls, if the rear nearside lights are detatched, the car stalls.

along with this the petrol gauge flicks up and down when the indicators are turned on. Checked relay which is faulty new one being collected this afternoon.

still doesnt explain why car cutting out, also when car running both the indicator and light (rear) have currents going to them are lit dimly

Please Help all wiring appears to be fine and have checked rear lights with volt meter

Did you make sure the battery connections are tight

yeah just took them back off and refitted still the same prob, any one know where or if there is an earthing poing in rear, as seems to be BACK or rear of car related
just od that depressing brake causes car to cut out !!!!!!!!!

the back light earth might also be the one for the fuel pump which is in the tank, and therefore that might be where your problem is. Sorry but I dont know where the earth is.

just stripped that down power through and good earth doing my head in now

ok now when the car has stalled, the indicator now works, but when it does so, the fuel gauge goes up and down intermittantly, can of petrol and a box of matches next !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:bang:

There are two rear earths, under the bumper.

isn't the earth feed wire one of the ones which runs via fuel pump under the plate situated under the rear seats? - seem to remember having a similar problem on my old cinq, and I'm sure it was something under that plate that was causing the trouble...

Looked under bumper and BOTH had rotted off mountings. Reattached and now all working so got MY car back yeah!!!
