Re: Re: Re: Hello to the Forum!

lets not go nuts. just wanna get the audio sorted for now. Just been reading the bravo guide about running the cable through, and rather worried about the mention of splitting the door sill plates. could do without breaking anything, but on the other hand i know some spotty little oik at a service centre wouldnt take half the care and attention to detail i would. if anyone has a few extra tips or cool thoughts on where to mount the changer it would be appreciated, and if anyone is in the Midlands and wouldn't mind helping a complete car audio beginner with his first (of many hopefully) project it would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Hello to the Forum!

what are you plans?

Fiat changer? Problem with this is it is quite expensive and you won't get any improvement in sound plus you are limited by the length of the wire. You would be better with a new CD dead unit. Ny changer is mounted on the parcel shelf but you need something a bit heavier than the standard one else it will skip! Better off on the back of the seat or at the side. There is also a space under the rear seat, some people have fitted theirs there!

They both look crap to me.

Why waste your money?

As for modifications, the only assistance you need is to be advised not to modify.

Spens more monet and look stupid, with no more power or speed.

Very sensible.

Phil,

Above is the local forum idiot. We usually just ignore any posts he makes nowadays. The arse wont go away so its safer to just ignore him :)

Like it or not - what I say is true about MODS.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Hello to the Forum!

Well my mom always said if youve not got anything constructive to say dont say anything at all. To be honest i dont like the way the head unit seems to sit back in the console, though im sure the benefits of the improved head unit outweight this im just a big fan of smooth lines, sad i know but what can i say.

as for people fitting the changer under the rear seat, where exatley do you put it? Only place i can really see is under the middle seat. What are the downsides of fitting it here. im guessin you can't drop the seats down, but apart from under the front seats, where ever you put it it would affect this. But does it stop you having passengers in the back seat. any advice is appreciated.

Phil

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Hello to the Forum!

if you lift the rear seat and the carpet there is a lower section in the middle and an opening in the steel so that if a passenger was sat in the middle the changer would be between their legs. You would have to try it to see if it fouled the seat dropping. I dont think it will fit in the glove box or under the front seat so i guess the boot is the only other option. If you dont like those facia adaptors you could either make your own or put the head unit in the glove box or something.

For security reasons i took my fiat radio apart and it sits over the top of my head unit when not in use.
