hi, my name is steve and i have just purchased a fiat stilo 1.6 dynamic 04 plate :D when i got the car home i found it had a few electrical problems :yuck: i managed to solve all except for my headlight problem  my drivers side dipped beam doesnt work but all others do an my passenger side buzzes,, i have tried cleaning the earth points with no look, any help would be appreciated thanks :D

Hello Steve,

Welcome to the Forum. Hope you will enjoy the Stilo.

If the dipped beam is not working but the main is working, then it is the bulb that needs replacement. The buzzing sound you hear from the light unit can be the adjustment motor that is working away at leveling the lights.

Gerhard is right, Steve. The buzzing is a headlight levelling motor on the blink. Use the search facility on here as this is not an uncommon problem and has been covered before. VW make an identical part (motor) which is cheaper than the FIAT equivalent.

thank you muchly for your reply :D i have tried replacing the bulb and still nothing, i found the motor replacement tread many thanks again, and i am enjoying the stilo :yum: i just wish the electrics where as good as the car looks (y) still it makes me smile to drive, just cant see very well at night :ROFLMAO:

If you are having a lot of electrical issues, it might be worth considering a new, more powerful battery (75Ahr or better). Stilos have a lot of complex electrical and electronic sytems that need a healthy, strong battery to operate at their best...

P.S. There's a guide on removing headlamps here:

dipped headlamp circuit 1.6.JPG
Dipped headlight circuit

Check the fuse, separate fuses for each side F12 and F13 15A
Next probe for power supplied at the bulb connector
Got power at the bulb connector?

Car would more likely have spotted a bad earth at the headlight cluster if there was one and displayed a warning pointing to sidelight circuit failure
