just would like to drop in and say hi.

i just got a new brava 1.4s 96reg for my first car have to say i like it very much just wondering if u guys can give me a little help as i realy know nothing much about cars. Iam learning tho

can u give me a couple of answers to these i have a had a look but nothins specifically answerd these soz if i missed anything.

if i want to have a nice exhaust at the back is that just called a Backbox and if it is does that give it a nice sound and better performance or do i need to buy a whole new exhaust?

the brake on my car is very loose and doesnt realy do much till around half way down just passed mot tho. is there any way i can make it stiffer or do i have buy brake pad thingys ?

gona get some alloys for it as far av read on the website 17" work fine as long as they arent 7" wide or something how do i know the width of alloys and what tyres would i have to buy.

any help is appreciated very much as iam a new driver and new to cars pls dont be too ruff on me :D

my alloys link is here btw http://www.pvdalloys.co.uk/arospeed_rsgt_silver.asp

Firstly...welcome :)

Exhaust...A new backbox will obiously make it look better, but i'm afraid you will get 0-1bhp increase in performance, full a full system (cat-back) you are looking at 1-2bhp increase, and if you remove the cat, you may get 2-3bhp.

Brakes...Have a look at the pads to see if there is plenty left on them, if they are OK, getting the brakes bled will make the pedal stiffer and bring it back up...

Alloys...For 17's, they will probably all be 7" wide, unless they state otherwise...its only the PDC you really need to worry about, the Bravo is 98PDC (i think), you can get alloys that are 98PDC, you will have more choice if you go for 100PDC, but you will need to buy a set of wobbly bolts to fit them.

Happy motoring...

Like Daz said and personally i'd stick to the 98PDC Fiat fitment alloys.
Tyres i'd go for 204/40/17
And welcome to the mad house
Rab :)

Cool thanks for the info.
justa couple of more questions for u guys :)

bled the brake system? lol do i take it to the garage for that and if so how much is it roughly

also thanks for advicr on tires and alloys al hopefully be able to find a nice set at 98pdc

can anyone recomend a nice set of wheels like the ones i gave link for that wud fit perfectly :)

thanks for your help

If your not sure of what to do then i'd take it to a garage or your local Kwik Fit or National etc.
Price at a guess i'd say £20? but not sure.
Alloys it's down to personal taste.
Rab.

Don't kwik fit do a free break test. If so I would go there and have them checked out before you spend your £££

if i were you dont set your heart on just 98pcd - although you can find them it does limit the range - 100pcd and wobbly bolts are fine and it gives you a much bigger choice!!

was just readin my manual lol and checked the website now if iam am correct as it says in my manual

there is a connecter for a cd changer now i have looked all over the bloomin boot as seeing its old must be a mk1 brava should it not have this cable thats coverd in foam :(

i cant find it anywhere only 1 cable each side witch is yellow but looks like its for the back speakers of witch mine doesnt have any for some reason :(

anyone know specificaly where the cable is as i checked the guide on the site and still cant find it.

Help :) assuming it is meant to have one.

ps.wi

I would stick to 205/40/17's as i have looked for 204's but i havent found any...;)

Daz

give us ur email address mate

i got a few pics of bravas with alloys on. when i had to pick mine. ill drop a recent 1 of mine in for ya aswell. dont get to excited :p LOL

if it's a brava s, which i assume it is, then the two yellow connectors are for the rear 5" speakers, but you will also need a different head unit to use these. The changer wire hangs at the left hand side and is very obvious, you probably don't have it on the s model.

If you just want looks and sound then a back box would do you fine, try exhaustuk.com they are a sheffield company that custom make them, they may be too far from you so other companys to look out for powerflow and long life.

as regards alloys, just search the net, all the info you need will be on the website somehwere.

With any mod check with your insurance first, i looked at replacing my exhaust with a stainless when it needed replacing. £285 from the people above but my insurance wouldn't let me do it even though it was classed as a warrenty replacement (i.e. no sound or performance improvement). I couldn't be bothered to change insurer mid policy so i got a kwickfit own.

I have a 4 channel Head-unit if you need one...e-mail me with an offer if your interested...

Daz

Have you been drinking again Rab? (That goes for you as well Daz :p)

It's PCD I believe, not PDC, lol.

Well, this confirms to what I originally believed

"Tyres i'd go for 204/40/17"

I think he means 205/40/17's"

lol. ;) ;)

Ian if i'd been drinking everything would be typed with a Glasgow accent. lol :)

Rab. :)
"This is a LOCAL website for LOCAL people we'll not have any trouble here"

sell it...they r ****...ive had a bravo 1.4sx for 2 years and every month has had a repair

Who's been drinking?

I simply stated that i couldn't find tyres that were 204's...lol?

I also offered my 4-channel Fiat Head-unit as he only has the 2-channel fiat version?

Soder as a gudge...lol! ;)
