Hello to all,
I am from Lancashire but I have noticed that you do not appear to have my car on any of your lists :)
I have a 1000cc mild hybrid.

I was going to ask a question about them, but if nobody else has one then I possibly won’t get an answer 🤣😜
I remember at least one other member saying they had one!- but id guess the knowledge base is quite small? if your gonna ask what size batteries it takes i think its 4 hp7,s 😁 if not i cant wait what your gonna ask!.

The normal 500 section is where you want to be :)

I just did a search there and we have a few members with them - only two posted in the garage though!

I was wondering how it decides when to run off battery power and when to run off petrol, or does it use both all the time?

I have no idea! I have a vague idea I read somewhere that its a petrol vehicle with and electric motor supplementing the main engine( so both running together all the time!) but could well be wrong! lets hope someone who has one and knows chips in!.

I just know that I had about a week when it was only running on petrol and not charging the battery which stayed at 50% charged.
Was just trying to figure out why this happened.

The "mild hybrid" 1.0 Firefly engined cars can not run on battery power alone.

It doesn't have an electric motor providing drive to the wheels.

What it has is a Belt Starter Generator (BSG), which basically takes the place of the starter motor and alternator, with the difference that it can provide a small amount of electrical assistance to the engine.

The BSG has its own 12v battery under one of the front seats, and doesn't permanently provide assistance.

As to level of charge, sorry I don't know what it's supposed to be, software tells the BSG when to provide assistance to the engine (under acceleration) and when to charge the batteries (engine braking and coasting at low speed).

Lithium ion batteries deteriorate below 20% and above 80% charge, so it could be the software just keeps it at a stable 50%.

I suspect there are more 1.0 Mild Hybrid Pandas, basically the same car, so you could ask there: https://www.fiatforum.com/forums/panda-2012.225/
