Hi all

Just thought id do a post and see what you are all up to, i see there is now a few more anti skids in the country now, my one and the abarth one, well so to speak and that yellow one, well thats 3 and there was only spossed to be 3 in the uk lol.....

So how things people, ive been well busy with my new car,,,, yeah yeah i know its not a fiat but im in the middle of a engine swap at the mo.
Bought mine as a standard sri140 vectra and i have now bought a stolen recovered cdx model with the good old 3.0 ltr v6, so plans now are to fit the 3lr ngine in mine and swap the interior over, should be looking at 180 bhp standard, but i have some other mods in mind aswell like larger throttle body, gsi cams, lightened flywheel and loads more looking around the 200 bhp mark by spring next year.
Ill stick a few pics up of what i bought if you havent already seen it..

Spoke to the bloke that bought my uno and he hasnt had a single problem with her at all, he is well chuffed and he also said hes gonna join ff and chat to you guze... I do still miss her but at least shes gone to a good home hey..

So whats been happening people, any new uno's on the site or still the same old minters about..

Take care all and have a good x mas

Rob

this car really looks like OPEL ASTRA which is marketed by GM in India :

ny way looks better than an uno, but u know, what u must have missed..:p

Yep, just another old-model Holden Vectra, albeit with the fancy wheels, the oval exhaust, and the spoiler. Big deal. It's even GREY. Can't get much more anonymous than that... ;) It looks better than an Uno in the way that a stapler looks better than a hole punch. They suit different purposes and neither of them is designed to be exclusively-beautiful.

Meanwhile my Uno Turbo hasn't moved for a few weeks now. There's nothing actually wrong with it, just that I don't need a car because all I've done is travel to work and back on my scooter. I still have to put the interior back into the Uno Turbo, though I thought I'd take the carpet out first and improve the handbrake lever (I'll probably find the mountings cracked/broken), and maybe bolster up the soundproofing for extra refinement. The way the humidity was today (92%) http://www.metservice.co.nz/default/index.php?alias=hamilton it might be a good idea to look into refitting the air conditioning, though the heater box will have to come out because I broke loose the pipe to the evaporator when trying to remove it (and couldn't actually get the nut off, just managed to move it so it's loose...)

Also planning to finish construction of my spare-wheel-well 10" sub box, which is in the early stages, making full use of the router table, MDF, glue, and clamps etc. at work.

:D :D :D

Opels are subject of many sarcastic nicknames where I live. The only one I dare to quote is that they are called "OPELnice" instead of OPEL.
The point is that the word "pOPELnice" in Czech means... a dustbin ;)

The Opel-haters also frequently note that almost every episode of German TV-series "Alarm fur Cobra 11 - Die Autobahnpolizei" begins with wrecking of at least 10 Opels with expired MOT :D

However, as long as this OPELnice serves well... why not.

Hey Rob how are you? Enjoying a bigger more luxurious car? Missing the Unos character?

Mine's now SORN as I don't really need a car. She flew through her MOT and is taking it easy for the winter. As a friend said, I'm now using the BMW - Bus, Metro, Walk.

As for antiskid's, I think there's a lot more than a few left. I know of 2 on top of the one's you've identified. In 1989 they started to sell them as an option and I reckon more than a third were sold 'antiskidded'. Probably even more. Was yours still hooked up? Have you ever driven one? A pretty primitive piece of kit at it's best. If the car skipped under breaking and you were unfortunate to have the brake pulsing in rythm with the bumps, cars would fly along like a pebble on water. Not so much fun. Still an elusive badge though and I'd love a white one. A friend of mine had G303 OKP years ago and she was the holy grail. Need a time machine.

Anyway take it easy Rob and keep posting................M.

Well my Strada has been locked in the garage since buying it, I haven't even driven it since parking up. Took a look at it today and it really needs a good spring clean and polish. I mean to start it up over the weekend to keep in ticking over. First I need to finish my major garden project...

Most of my free time has been spent on this landscaping project - actually that is a bit of a lie it would have been finished ages ago if I wasn't playing with Unos over the summer!!!! Started in April this year and now getting closer to completion. The target is March next year. I've dug in about 25 2.5m oak sleppers, used about 5 tonnes of concrete, about 150m of timber and 70 tonnes of backfill cosisting of shingle, hardcore and rubbish soil. It has been seriously hardwork at times but fortunately had plenty of help. I've now got to fence it up, build some steps down the side, build the new patio and leave it over the winter for final settling before turfing in March.

I used to have a Vectra B - nice cars. Mine was a 2000 2.5 V6 SRi. I think you will find your engine is only a 2.5V6 not a 3.0. The 3.0V6 was fitted in the Omega rather than the Vectra (except for a small handful of rare ST's) Last of the Vectra B's in 2001 had slightly larger 2.6V6.

I wanted a st but didnt have a deep anough pocket lol

Na it'll be rapid as, mate.

But wait until you hear my new audio system, I reckon it'll blow yours out the water. :)

Speak to me on msn or call me about the welding, I'm off to london for the weekend, but if you can help yourself to the garage it'd be cool if you could sort it out. Otherwise, next weekend?

Cheers,
Arth D
