hi all my heater only works on number 4...1 2 and 3 are dead..ive been and got a new resistor this morning, just wondering if anybody has a tutorial with pictures to show how to fit it..thanks..

Its Really really easy - im not prepared to go out to my car now (too cold)

Sit at the side of the passenger seat and look under the dashboard
You will see 2 main clumps of wiring

1 with be a 2pin Fan power connector
the other will be a 4 or 5 pin connector between the fan and the centre console
its usually held in place with a 7mm/8mm/Philips self tapping screws

They do vary according to lazy job in the fiat factory could lay his hands on

Anyway - Release the connector before undoing the screw
The release the screw - the resistor pack will simple come out

Refit is the reverse

IF the connector wont budge - and you can see melted plastic - its probably melted and will require a rebuilt connector

if its the common failure - then you'll be done in 15mins :)

Before you spend any money, check that it isn't just a loose connection, because fan speed 3 didnt work for me and one day I was just fixing a few cables that were hanging down where the heater resistor is and since then the fan works perfect on all speeds.

hi all thanks for the replys..all done and now working on all 4...i took the fan screws out...then relised i didnt have to as the plug was right in front of my eyes. i think it had been done some other time before i got the car as the 2 retaining screws that keep the resistor in place were missing so it was a bonus just be able to slide it out of the housing and disconnect it...then replace with the new one..hey presto all working..once again guys thanks for your help.

indeed the resistor sits in the flow of the air coming into the car to keep cool otherwise it will burn out very quickly find some screws that fit and make sure its screwed in
