Technical Heater fan problem

Hi.I have a veeerrrrry slow heater fan which I assume is down to a faulty speed governer resistor (after reading previous threads on the problem). Are they universally fitting on these cars or are part numbers important?.I have located on but the part number is different,and I am hoping that this may be due to minor modifications within the production run.Could anyone give me some advise on this??
