Technical Heater Fan Intermitant Fault

Had another look at that connector again last night (at work).
I found that the terminals I'd fitted weren't clamped tight enough (was in a bit of a rush when I did them ).
As soon as I touched them the fan came on.
Great, I thought, just nip the nut and bolt up and that's sorted! :D

Nope! Worked for a few seconds, then stopped again
Tried to get the connector apart, with no luck (which suggests maybe there is some corrosion in there).
Didn't want to force it so I left it.

Fiddled with the loom and the fan started again .

Put the centre cover on, and just as I was tightening the last screw...you guessed it, it stopped :bang:

In sheer annoyance I thumped the cover, and it started again (can't find a suitable emoticon for this!).

It's still OK, but I just know it'll stop again sooner or later.
Everything is working except the 'Max Defrost' function.

I'll get the connector apart when I have a bit more time...or when it fails again

Watch this space...

As expected, it stopped working again a few days ago, just in time for the seriously cold weather
I had another go at it last night, as soon as I started fiddling with the wires on that connector the fan came on.
So I just cut them all and spliced them together, no need for a connector there anyway.
The 'Max Defrost' setting still does nothing but I can live with that.

So thanks for the tip klytus (y)

When I first got it (Oct) the max defrost setting brought the AC on (the light on the switch came on) and the fan went to max.
I don't know if there's an electric heater element somewhere but it seemed to clear the windscreen pretty quickly from cold.
Now all that happens is the AC switch light comes on and the fan stops
