Just got my 66-plate 4x4 and pretty much eveything is illuminated on the interior… Except the heater controls.

Is this an odd design decision, a blown fuse or something more sinister?

Firstly. They only illuminate when the headlights are on.

Mine was the same. I found it tricky to pull the heater controls panel off. But I found it easier to pull the whole surrounding trim away, then push it back, leaving the heater control panel sticking out which can easily be pulled out fully at that point

The control knob units have two metal spring clips on the edge of the lower part. Use a thin plastic pry tool to ease it forward enough to get fingernails or blade behind. It should just pop out.

Thanks for the replies - just done the job and the controls are now illuminated 🥳

Those metal clips though… For some reason one pinged *through* where it is supposed to sit on the controls and it took me forever to retrieve it.

In the end I had to push it out the back and hope it landed somewhere I could get to… And as luck would have it that’s what happened (though it did require full “legs in the air, accidental nudging of horn” pose)
