I have not long acquired a fiat stilo 2002 1.2 16v but have a problem with the heater blower, the blower works without putting the keys in the ignition but if I start the car up the heater won't work at all does anyone have a idea what could be the problem .many thanks Jay

ho! Thanks for the reply we did take the front of the heater unit Off but that's all fine it's just strange how it will work with no keys in but when you put the key in we get nothing or aleast it will work once in a while

Sounds like an electrical problem to me, try going to a local garage and asking them as like #varesecrazy says it does sound like a bad earth or fuse box problem well let's hope it's one of them two as big electric problems ant going to be a cheep fix

Thank you for the replys much appreciated I'm lucky that my friend is a really good mechanic but have to catch him when he isn't working on wrecker trucks. Is there anywhere where I could look, do you think it could have been wired up wrong and if it's a earth problem would you start from the battery

Any updates on what the problem was?
And did your friend manage to have a look and sort it?

Nope havent really tried yet I'm not to sure where to start its weird that if I start the car up them drive for twenty seconds it will work sometimes, thing is the car hhas been sitting for 3 months maybe that hasn't helped

Try going to halfords for a free (used to be not sure if it still is) battery test as you could have a faulty battery but to me it sounds like a faulty connection somewhere along the line I'm no expert though far from it but just a general thought of what it could be

When we got the car the battery was pretty much dead I think it had a date of 2006 on it so we got a new one, but yesterday I got in the car started her up and ejected the tape in the tape player and bam 5 seconds later the heater came on, thanks for the advice jaydirk really appreciate it

Your welcome,
Wait does the heater work when the tape is out? Or does it work either way just abit of luck? If it only works while out but not when in then that does sound like a electric problem as its shorting the circuit out somewhere along the line keep us up to dat on this problem and I will try my best to help you out :) also #yellowstilo is good with fixing electrics in dashboard so he might have a better idea with your cars problem then I do that's if he knows about all the cars electrics I'm not too sure but I'm sure he'd be happy to help if he can

Right update on the car and the past two days the heater has worked fine which is weird

Sounds wired!
But aslong as it works I can't see a problem but keep your eye on it!
Let us know if anything goes wrong!
Sure everyone will be happy to try and help!
