I have an Alpine CBA-7876 rb. But I need some help tuning my audio system. I was going to get a new amp on the front speakers but since I have a gorgeous newborn little boy :D I am spending money on and saving money for him :D. So anyway back to my thread.

1) It seems like there is too much bass from the front speakers and so I am losing the vocals/ quality in the music.

2) There is a BBE option which apparently cuts out phase distortion is this worth using?

3) There is a built in crossover with a HP and LP function both with range 80hz to 180hz. What settings should these be on? And with my subwoofer do I need the low pass filter on? will this mean that the low pass is doing the low pass for the speakers as well as the subwoofer?

I know it is a lot of questions. Thanks in advance

system btw (eventhough I have posted it enough times)

Headunit: Alpine CDA-7876 rb

Front: JL C2 650x coaxials

Back:JL Audio TR525 coaxials

sub and amp is:

JL Audio 12” sub 12W0-4
JL Audio E1200 Amp

Congrats :)
My friend said £50 posted if you can be swayed lol.

I'm not particularly famiar with the unit. I'm sure with a more sober head I could figure it out but it would be easier to have the unit in my hands. Where do you live?

Basic sound quality can be achieved buy turning the amp for the sub to LPF, and on the HU, turn the eq settings so that the bass is low, the treble is high and the mids are the higher end of the middle.

For example mine goes from 0-10 and I use:
Treble - 8
Mids - 6
Bass - 2 (lower as I allow the sub to do the work)

As for the pass filter, fiddle with them, see what works. Also, make sure your fader is closer to the front than the middle

to Volxstu I will let you know on that one I will see how much I get paid on friday, I live near Nottingham which from browsing the forums is near where near any of you lol.

smokeyjoe I will try that and let you know cheers for the help.

my car audio will keep getting better my excuse is the nursery rhymes have to sound good for my little boy haha dont think people believe the speakers etc. are for him lol

Well financially I don't envy you. My Sister has a little one and they don't do to badly wage wise and they're always skint. My bro inlaw would be castrated if he spent money on an amp lol. (well he wouldn't as she wants another one now)
I can see if he can drop it to 35 and get my dad to post it through his work.. Can't promise anything though.

Ok back on topic. It would seem you are using the bass on the eq of your head unit to make the sub louder. Set the bass to 0. This should solve the issues you have up front. Then you know you have more from the sub. So let the amp do it. Maybe add some more to the gain. JL actually have a gain calculator. Hopefully it will be available for your amp. I will ask somebody who knows and hopefully get back to you on that.
Maybe if you think there is more in the sub in comparison to when you had the sub level turned up then turn the sub level on the amp up.

if you could ask that would help. I don't envy me on the financial front either lol. Well I can get away with it as im not with the mum (but that is another story lol) still have enough to provide for my little boy and see him which is the most important thing.

The gain on the amp is just over halfway. I will have a look on Google for the calculator in the meantime. Thanks
