ok,

ive just rewired my head unit so that it only comes on when the ignition is on. ive also wired up the amp to the same system so it only turns on with the igntion too etc (although my original plan was to have it only turn on when the hu turns on)

anyway, my problem now is that when you turn the ignition off the head unit completely shuts off, so it doesnt keep its memory etc. now i dont understand this atall as the 12v feed and ground havent been tampered with ain anyway.

all i did was to wire the remote lead to the window switch 12v+ feed, this was how it was in my old car and i had no problems.

I have also wired the amp remote lead to the same cable (hence why it turns on when the igintion is turned on rather than the head unit.

can anyone help? I just cant think why the HU is loosing complete power when switched off even though it has its 12v and ignition cables intact and fully connected as they have always been. isnt this the whole point of the remote lead? so that the hu only uses full power when its supposed to and just sits in "idle" mode when its not.

this is for a cinq sporting btw

by the looks of things (like paul's said), theres 2 power wires that go to the headunit - the main 12v, and the memory 12v.

The memory 12v should be connected to teh continuous 12v supply, and the main 12v connected to the ignitions 12v :)

By the sounds of things, both were bridged together as one and connected to teh continous 12v, so you've moved this wire to the iginition feed - and you're loosing teh continous memory power feed becasue that was part of the same wire.
