Can anyone advise me on this annoying fault.
Fiat Bravo 1.2 1999
Had the fault since I bought it at 6K now has 46K. Fault has been the same all the way through.
Starts 1st or 2nd time every time. Runs superbly above 2000rpm. 38mpg

Fault
Hesitates when under load between 1000-2000rpm. Really knocks your head off too. Call it flat spot, misfire, what you will.
Fine when on flat or downhill.

Parts history
Air cleaner-clean as a whistle
New plugs and plug leads 6k ago with no difference. No discernible air leaks

PLAN
Thinking of changing oxygen sensor and possibly MAP sensor in that order as that will be less bucks than Fiat having a look at it for a day and still have the fault afterwards.

Any experiences/advice. Yes I know changing down and getting the revs up does the job but there's a fault and it is very unpleasant at times.

Thanks

Changing the MAP or Lambda sensor probably won't do anything if its just below a certain rev range.

Sounds almost like an engine sensor problem: cam or crank position sensors or the knock sensor.

It could think its pinking and cutting back the ignition to compensate.

In theory a garage with the right gear should be able to diagnose a sensor fault from the ECU... in theory....

i think that is like my prob...

i had a jaring with my 1.2 t reg bravo, though it was cam belt or the fueltiming but it turned out i was running cheap fuel and had coked up the engine, just ran some engine cleaning stuff and shell-optimax fuel and it has ran fine since.
It was caused by using cheap sainburys fuel!!

Re: i think that is like my prob...

supermarket fuel is really dire.

BP Super is the best I've found. Optimax didn't do anything for my 1.6.
