Have i killed it??

Since Sunday night my car has been smelling really really hot but the temp measurer thingy never moves, unless i am in a traffic jam...i only need to travel a short didtance to make the smell happen, i am not driving it today and i have booked it in to a garage tomorrow, but does anyone know what it might be and what my costs, (Dads costs) are going to be?

If it still got the power like before, than I don't know, but if it's loo on power than it is a possibility that you burned the clutch.
The clutch smells something like rotten eggs. Don't know the coast to repair-not from england.

Where does the temp guage point normally? You sure the smell is coming from the engine bay? Maybe a brake is binding a bit.

the smell is strongest on passenger side, next the engine. the clutch and brakes are as fine as they ever were. temp is usually at the very bottom, it only goes up to the second thin notch in a traffic jam, and even that is rare.

Does the heater work??

the heater, you mean the one that makes the car warm in the morning or somthing else?...the car is running fine

Well, thats a good sign

The guage should ideally read 1/4 to 1/2 way so there is still something wrong.

Does the main fan come on when you are stuck in traffic?

(The fan that Tom is on about is the thing in the engine bay just sat behind the radiator at the front of the car - if you stand outside of the car while it's running you usually hear it start up after the car has been sat idling for 5 minutes)

You may not be able to hear it sat in your car, but I can in mine when I've got my windows down and music off!

i just had a phone call from the garage where i am having the MOT and service done today, passed MOT no probs, (well except new tyres but i was expecting that) he never mentioned anything about the smell , so now i am just confused

no mechanic in the world will give a sh@t about a smell in the cabin unless you TELL them you want it sorted as part of the service.

The only thing that crossed my mind is the pollen filter for the in car went.
I'm out of answers.
