Living in england is like living in a box. Even for those who have a "high profile job" and lots of money.

You get up > have breakfast, get in your car > sit in congestion >be underappreicated at work> get in your car > come home > eat tea.

On a weekend, you go out and get wrecked. Then the process starts again on monday.


That process will never change, its too rammed into society. Its a shame our brains are wasted on us. We all try to act individual etc, but step back and notice that everyone's life is pretty much the same dull boring affair

Don't think for one second that this is confined to England, it's exactly the same up here.

I lived in the same house all my life (bar the other house about 35 doors away where i lived for about 3 months) although i am pretty well traveled but still i can safely say it feels weird when im out of the midlands for too long.

Where have you travelled to if I may ask?

Reason why I ask is because when I was your age I'd never set foot outside of the UK. Couldn't see the appeal of living elsewhere because, well, I didn't know what it was like to live elsewhere! Fast forward a couple of decades and I've since spent long periods working and traveling abroad. England has some good points but I am more than ready and am planning to emigrate when I can.

Plus I agree with many others that there's little to be proud about bring British anymore. Witness that news report where the UK came 24th in Europe for child wellbeing

That IS life, for most people, the world over. "the rat race", as it's often known as

the only way to escape it is by NOT pissing your money against a wall at the weekends

Dont get me wrong about my above post, i love where i live at the moment. I would happily live near the lake district for the rest of my life.

erm most of France bar the dordoin, quite a lot of Spain, the basque region, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, America, canada, cyprus, the channel islands (all three), wales, scotland, madeira. i think thats it might be others mind. as i have no desire to have kids and unlikely to ever child well being issomething that frankly i couldnt give a toss about.

now personally i think halesowen is a dump would i live anywhere else? ptrobably not. i was born in wordsley which is a dump. i have spent a lot of my life in boscastle,tintagel,truro,camelford,bude,bideford,bodmin,padstow,plymouth,portsmouth,crewe.nantwhich,birmingham,blackheath,dudley,small heath, kings heath,sparkbrook etc and out of them all i dont feel right outside of halesowen.

same here yes where i live has it downfalls as does everywhere but i dont have any intention of living anywhere else (yet anyway).

That's quite a lot of places to have visited considering you're only 18 (I think?) and I take it they were all holidays/ school trips rather than anything more than two weeks? Short trips never give the true impression of what it's like living elsewhere, which is why many people go to live where they spent holidays only to find out it's not so nice on a permanent basis. Likewise places people didn't think much about when on holiday can come alive when you become a resident rather than a tourist.

Each to their own I guess. I've travelled extensively over the past 20 years and the majority of places I've been to I wouldn't want to live in. However, I have spent up to 6 months traveling and/ or working in some places abroad and given the opportunity I would immigrate to these places like a shot. Once I qualify in my career then those visas should be forthcoming

It's not just about your children though. It's about the next generation that will run the Governments, the councils, the businesses, the schools, the hospitals etc. It's about you feeling safe walking the streets knowing that you're NOT going to get set upon by a group of teenage (or younger) thugs that haven't had a decent upbringing. It's about knowing that the next generation are going to be brought up with morals and standards and will look after the country and just maybe give it back some of the pride it used to have. However, if we don't look after our young generation then who's going to look after us when we get old?
