How about he just doesn't watch the DVD while driving? Its not a safety issue.. Its an idiot proof issue. ??

If it switches off whilst in motion then he cant watch it even if he wanted to,therefore its a safety issue as he cant run anyone down while watching it!

Got it working by just earthing it. You say that about watching it whilst moving, whats the difference from say looking at a sat nav?

I think you are missing the point. He's a grown man. I think he can be trusted to not watch it while driving. You could run someone over adjusting the radio or looking out the side windows. Doesn't mean we need the radio to lock itself until you stop or have the side windows tinted so you can't see out of them.
Plus whats to stop him driving with the handbrake on which could cause a fire? Maybe we should disable the handbrake? :p

Motorists caught watching a DVD while driving are subject to a £30 fixed penalty notice for "having a television in view of the driver", but those who cause accidents could face criminal prosecution.
