i want to use the om hands free mic

I have an alpine head unit with a Bluetooth module and the hands free mic is not very good . So am thinking of getting an interior light with the mic built in then cutting the alpine mic off and fitting the cables to the mic that comes with the light . Can some one tell me is this possible ? thanks
