In continuation of the segregation of my Panda threads here for your reading pleasure is what has come to be known as Guff II (even though I won't be buying any Guff stickers this time around). If you want to know about the original Guff have a look here...

...if you'd like to catch up with the story so far for Guff II look here...

So today the plan was to finish painting the inside of the car today but as usual I was distracted by my transporter project. More importantly the live feed from the battery to where the tail lift used to be. There's a two foot long cable from the battery to a fuse panel and the secondary wire feed from the fuse goes all the way to the back of the chassis. That's the earth and live for relocating the Panda battery taken care of then. I still have terminals and kill
switches left over from the Guff Cinquecento.

As it was nice out and there are still relatively fewer bugs this time of year I thought I'd give my gravity gun a go...

...it used a lot more paint than my old vacuum one, the dispersal was inconsistent to put it politely and the finish wasn't that bad but I'll not be using that gun again.

Now the big question; do I paint the bumpers blue, orange or at all?

Gulf colours....got to be my favourite...(y)

Shhhh! Guff colours are a different colour blue and different orange completely and have nothing to do with the multi-Billion Dollar Gulf Oil company who love copyright proceedings almost as much as profiteering.

A chap had to respray his GT40 replica before it could be featured in a magazine the "Guff" Cinquecento was featured in the same magazine in different colours, with a different name, as a non-infringing little protest. ;)

My racing colours are violet with yellow bumpers and sills but as I have some Guff paint left over it's saves time making decisions and money later.

Since the FrankenFiat engine didn't work (through no fault of my own I might remind you) I've been looking for a replacement.

Good news; I've found a bare Punto 1242 block. Doesn't matter if it's a 60 or 75 as I have the cam' already. :)

Bad news; it's in Milton Keynes and driving round that town is about as much fun as swapping piles cream for deep heat. :bang:

No dissing the great MK - oh hang on, I got that wrong - no it's fine!! :D

There are some positives - the H&V grid system means you can find your way around if you can count, the roundabouts will scrub those front tyres you didn't like, there's some nice concrete cows if your counting doesn't work & you get lost, and the scenery's lovely heading away towards Buckingham. ;)

This is where we find any Panda owners in MK without a sense of humour.......

Rock and hard place today. I can either do bodywork or drive to Milton Keynes.

Before I start I thought I'd try this again...

...I think orange bumpers will be a little too much.

If I get a phone call I'll be off to collect the engine; if not I have a day of filling, sanding, more filling, more sanding and maybe painting later. :)

After all that I didn't get much done today...

...apart from most of the paint. My nephew helped out as well. I showed how to mix the paint, spray and what to look out for. He was happy enough so I went to put the kettle on. Came back and he'd let the gun creep close to the body, made some terrible runs, panicked and went over them several times making them worse.

Just as well the £999 Challenge isn't a concourse event eh? ;)

The orange stripe was inspired by the FrankenFiat engine's target 100hp. Old Panda with a new stripe. I like it at least. The blue paint had been stored too long and clumps of dark blue pigment came out of the gun as well as the runs it's probably the worst paint job I've ever done. Brilliant! :)

I have a pretty short shopping list now...
Engine.
Windscreen.
Headlights (the drivers side broke on the way out).
Bottom ball joints.
Polycarbonate for the rear windows.
Tyres.

...and the list of jobs is getting there...

Brakes.
Engine.
Suspension.
Rear windows.
M.O.T stuff.

yeah its a tough call. i think the orange would look quite cool with the wheels and the orange strip down the door. we all have personal preferences though... and it is your car :D

heh i think the cinq bumper on the panda is quite snazzy. with a bit of work i bet it could be done too. maybe one thing i will do when i get my "play" panda 4x4.. just because i can.

You're more than welcome to my orange bumper to try it out with. It could work with a little fettling but it's a bit Chop Shop/Max Power for me and those day are thankfully long gone.

Did a spot of office work today?

Does anyone know of a legal reason as to why the fuel cell and battery can't take the place of passenger ballast?

Being close to the middle of the car should mean the fuel is less effected by G-forces. ;)

Really? I'd better get to Smiths for a copy. :)

I have an interesting sideline proposal for the event. More on that later if it comes to fruition.

Got my M.O.T guru to confirm the location is okay and I'll mount it tomorrow.
