I may not make the £999 Challenge now as I'm over qualified for Celebrity Big Brother. ;)

One of the things I love about the £999 Challenge is due to the budget a the concept of thinking outside of the box for solutions to problems I wouldn't have if I wasn't on a budget in the first place. I tend to smash the box up, burn it and use the charcoal to filter crazy juice (thus I'm messing about with a Panda instead of buying something and making it quicker).

I can't afford to go out and spend £30+ on a battery tray to relocate the battery where I want it so...

...with a couple of small plates and two links from my engine hoist chain...

...I've fabricated a couple of...

Now do I drill and bolt those in place or weld them?

I'd be really careful how you mount that battery! It's not about keeping it from rattling about, it's about stopping it from ripping through you if you hit anything at speed! The hoops you made look strong but I can't see anything from stopping those threaded bars holding the clamp on failing and launching that battery around the cabin, possibly taking your fuel tank with it on the way!

Why buy this...

...brand new unit for £5 more; including clear or amber indicators and bulbs?

Tough choice eh?

Hmmm

I'd have put a want ad up and got one for a lot less from one of the forum friends

Took a road trip to Norwich today to collect the windscreen for Guff II...

...there are three clear and six green tinted windscreens left in the UK so my fellow Pandaists get one while you can. :)

£45 plus VAT supply only.
£80 plus VAT fitted there.
£95 plus VAT if I called them out to do it on my driveway (fifty odd miles away).

The Italian eBay guys can have either a green or clear screen shipped over here for £86 all in. Obviously the more you buy the lower the postage costs would be. Could be worth a forum mass purchase once the UK supply has dried up.

Don't forget to mention the Fantasia if you order a screen from Norwich she made quite an impression. ;)

At those prices, I'm tempted to replace mine: it's got an irrepairable chip near the top, driver's side corner. Autoglass won't replace: as they say they can't until it worsens....

Do they have other branches? If so, I wonder if they'll ship one to my local branch, and then install...? (Scurries off to do a quick Google....)

PS: Although they say that they provide a "Local service with nationwide coverage", they then go on to say that they're "Primarily serving across East Anglia... -- Norwich; Great Yarmouth; Kings Lynn; Thetford and Lowestoft." Can't imagine it'll be cheap to come all the way to Middle England.... :(

The best way find out would be to ask. I'm about to fit the screen to Guff II so we can rat run it if you like. I collect the screen from Norwich and you pick it up from mine or fit it here. A run to Norwich and back only used £12 of petrol yesterday and I wasn't hanging about.
