I've only gone & purchased the 1 & only "john lee's" 3 Door Sedi in mint condition ! :slayer: It still has all the mods listed on his site
www.tipo16v.co.uk , But it's minus the flappy paddle clutch & i've been told it's had a replacement engine.

All she needs is a new clutch but :whogives: , I think i've got one (y)

Besides that . . she still looks stunning !

Yes it sure is . . :D I 4got 2 mention i got the moonstone green one aswell but that one is going to it's grave.
 
With none of the engine mods. I sold the pistons, Alexis who runs FCCUK has the rods. I have the head minus one set of cam caps in the garage here along with the manifold and XJ6 throttle body as written on JL's site.

Barber Sheikh had it for years sitting round. Needs a real good tidy up, be nice to have it back on the road.
 
Yh Cool . . So we both have a bit of history then (y), I was told by Mike Ware to have a chat with you regards her past.

It would be nice to have a chat sometime . . If you get my number of my ebay ad, drop me a txt or giz a bell ( or vice versa ) it would be good to have a chat with someone who knows about her past !

is fitting a xj6 throttle body easy to do and do you have to change anything else?
 
As i put in my 1st post it's had a replacement engine so the throttle body aint on it, But Engine wise > I am informed that it still has "the" if not "another" gas flowed head on tho.

As i say the rest of the mods are still on her !
 
it had 3 angle valve seats but they arent to Guy Corft accuracy and John said he noticed no difference.

XJ6 throttle body - forget it, pointless and not simple.

Actually heres JL's car in background, I'm the guy on the right with the black jumper, my mate Ian behind who had a silver 5 door, and Alexis on the left in the white jumper.

Mmmm interesting thread this one!! Good on you Gary for buying the John Lee car to put it back on the road - that car and of course his website are the reasons I would suspect that a lot of people became interested in a car that most people still haven't heard of!!

Rich - great to see those old website pics again - its a shame they can't be accessed on the site anymore. I see you had more hair in the "old days" - just like me.....it happens to the best of us!!

I have a mind that the black 5 door featured is mine when owned by Roy Tomlinson as I know he went to most of the early meets. Can you confirm Rich?

I would also be interested to know more about John's car and it's life since he sold it - I recall all the stuff on the old forum about the "unfortunate" engine mods etc.

Finally....a YES to a Sedicivalvole meet up - but when, we are all quite spread out geographicaly so perhaps Auto Italia Gaydon would be good or one of Rich's racedays. Suggestions please.....................

I plan for brooklands in may, and the PPC event in May at Mallory Leicester - Incidentally I think the mallory meet would be the best one coz if your lucky i'll give you a ride round the track.

Im up for going to brooklands if we did decide that then suggest meeting up early and arriving in convoy so we can all park together? Gaz you can even stay at mine nite before!!! If you start polishing now you may have a car shinier than mine :devil:
