I have been instructed by Mistress Lolita to enter this on the events thread rather than the general dooh daah, so here goes.
It now looks as if we may be able to get enough people out of their pits on Sunday 1st March at about 3pm to have a (possibly small) FF meet. The only problem at the moment is that those with Fords will outnumber those in FIATs. In fact there's a distinct possiblity that even people going by public transport will outnumber the FIATs. So I am appealing to all those members
of FF who actually drive one, look, alright, any Italian car will do to let me know if they will be able to make it.

The venue will be The Romper public house on Wilmsow Old Rd. I what could be Altrincham. Or Wilmslow depending on your point of view. To get there, get
on the M56 and leave at J6 joining the A 538 in the direction of Wilmslow. About a quarter of a mile further on there is a road on the left called Sunbank
Lane. The Romper is on the left after about 100 yards.

The landlord is a bit of a petrol head and has a few cars that could be described as nearly classics. A mid '90s Jag XJ6, a MGB GT and '50s Riley. If we can get quite a few regulars he's prepared to cordon off part of the car park for us.

The pub has a good selection of beers and preapares some good food. They already have a Vauxhall group turning up, a Land Rover Disco III Owner's Club and they even have an electric vehicle mob.

Comments please.

You can count me in Sire Beard!
Add 1 Stilo to your list of Fiats!
Huzzaarh. You truly are a Prince among men, or, in the present egalitarian, politically correct climate, perhaps I should say You truly are a member of the proletariat being a human bi-ped of indeterminate gender, race and sexual orientation.

Im 80% in, either in a Fuzz ST or my GPS
If one may be permitted to express an opinion, perhaps you may like to come
in an Italian car, it being una bella macchina. I know the Ford has better steering, but, let's have some Latin flair.

why does it say the 12-02-09?

anyways... im in on the 1st march:cool:
Er, is it possible I wrote it on the 12th day of the 2nd month in the year 2009? Anyway, the 1st of March it is By Golly. I've spoken to the landlord today and he was a little less than enthusiastic; until I informed him Mistress Lolita would be coming. He said he would be getting posters printed advertising the event and if she will consider doing a Burlesque act then he may not even have to pay people to attend. We won't be clashing with any other car group as the Vauxhall Trolls turn up on a Saturday, the LR Discovery
III go on a Monday and the electric vehicle fans don't come in their things at all because they are worried about running out of electricity before they can get home. If any of you fine upstanding people can prod some others into life
and get the numbers up, then all the better.

Re: Greater Manchester meet.

Great. Can you find it OK from the directions or do you have one of those new
fangled satelite thingies? Look forward to seeing you.

I have a sat nav but that doesn't stop me from getting lost

If you could forward directions (& postal code for pub would be great) I'd appreciate it (y)

Basically anything to stop me from getting lost LOL!

I'll try and get the postcode in the next few days. From Brum, take the M6 North and leave at J19. At the roundabout take the 3rd exit to the right onto the A556 towards Manchester and the Airport. After about 3 or 4 miles you will come to another roundabout. Take the 3rd exit to the right onto the M56 towards Manchester and the Airport. Leave at the next exit signposted to Wilmslow, Altrincham A538 and the Freight Terminal/Cargo Centre. This should be J6. At the roundabout follow the road to the right under the M56 signposted A538 Wilmslow. After the traffic lights there is a road on the left a few hundred yards further called Sunbank Lane. It is signposted to Concorde and the Aviation Viewing Park. Turn left here. The pub is about 100 yards on the left. I will be the paranoid one with facial hair walking round talking to myself saying: "No-one's going to turn up," over and over again.

Im new to this forum but im up for the meet! It sounds good. Im only 20 mins away ish. Not been to one yet:D :slayer: If its still on?
Thanks both of you. It's still on even if I'm the only one going. This won't be a case of being chased off by some security guard on a shopping centre car park because we're invited. Also it's in a quiet rural area, so although there will be no shortage of the Boys in Blue in the area (you have been warned) there is also the advantage of there being no BMX riding chavs coming through the car park. If Charlotte from Birmingham can make it, there's no excuse for any of the locals.

Watch this space for further developments.
