hi guys have been looking to buy a grande punto 1.9diesel. i test drove it today and as i went down the dual carriage way it had a really bad vibration sound getting louder the faster i went. does anybody no what it could be or has anybody got any things i should look out for before buying one. thanks really need the help. (y)

If you get it fixed by an Indy then your looking 40 parts 40-50 labour max. So haggle off about 200 quid LOL.

Put money on NSR bearing though :)

thanks alot guys really helpfull. dealer said he will sort the problem out anyway. is it likely going to happen again. and one more thing. what chip can i put on it lol. everyone likes abit more power. plus wha 0-60 would i be lookin at. by the way lol the cars only done 27000 miles is tha a bad thing tha wheel bearings should be going so soon. thanks:cool:

I dont think anyones had a second NSR bearing yet but then I've not heard the OSR one going at all either. Mine went at 38-40 ish but some far earlier, down to how much ingress of moisture and dirt I guess.

PS get them to check/clean the EGR too :)

There are some Tuning boxes available (See https://www.fiatforum.com/tmc-motorsport/) but most people prefer and really rate a custom remap from Red Dot racing who in cooperation with GSR run the Fiat Forum Remap Days.

The next is due to be in Glasgow in Feb or will start up again in Enfield in spring.

£199 will see you up to approx 170bhp/300ft-lb sometimes more.

Does this bearing fault make a rattling noise from whichever wheel its affecting?Especially when going over bumps?

No... very different... You probably have a faulty Anti-roll bar Drop link on either of the front suspension units.

Hmm, I had this on mine when i bougt it last week. 14,000 miles on clock and I had the whole car vibrating in excess of 60mph. Was just a simple rear wheel balancing and its as smooth as a babys bum! : p

If the whole car vibrates, Its your real wheels. It the steering wheel does , it's the Fronts. If both do, Its all 4 wheels but wheel balancing is so cheap anyways. £5.70 per tyre and I got it for free as I have been back soo many times : P

DJSparky, Bambam72 says his is rattling over bumps not vibrating at speed.
