Have black carbon build up on top of engine and fuel leaking around injectors

Can you send a picture. Injectors have a seal at the base that can be changed if the engine is otherwise running OK. Its not a big job. Carbon on top of the engine sounds odd are you sure this is not oil and dirt?

Under the air filter sounds like you have a leaky crankcase breather maybe? Shiny sound like an oil not carbon. Check all the pipes attched to the air filter box are fixed and that the box is not cracked. I had leaky injectors on a Citroen many years back. I took it to a Bosch deisel centre. Those guys were so good and it was sorted while I waited, including them recalibrating the injectors. The cost was reasonable too. Messing with the injectors is not for the feint hearted and is potentialy dangerous so maybe have a chat with a deisel centre on the phone?
