General Grande Punt - Rear view mirror windscreen attachment

Hi

My son has a Fiat Grande Punto. His rear view mirror has come off and has lost the bit that is bonded to the glass to clip the mirror on to.

My local Fiat dealer doesn't stock, nor does Auto Windscreens. Both were trying to sell me a whole new windscreen. (Somewhat excessive I thought)!!

A breaker won't separate from a windscreen as it will likely break the windscreen.

Anyone any other ideas?

Multiple ways around this:
1.Find somebody breaking a Fiat .. not necessarily a GP ( a corsa d might work as well)... somebody might have a cracked windscreen; go with the mirror, check it fits.. get it from there. (check other cars as well)
2. suction cup mirror
3. a chunk of plastic and a few files + epoxy
4. a piece of sheet metal, a few pliers,(optional a vise, a hammer), some files + epoxy
5. hardwood might work as well.

Loctite 319 windescreen mirror glue... comes with a tiny applicator pad and some glue..

Used it twice now... nothing else sticks like it...
