I go on holiday expecting these guages to be finally finished.....

Never really liked the ST's, always thought they're over rated and abit slow for what they are. Saying that, I've never drove one myself. So my comments could always change. I hope you enjoy the new car!

He has the right idea going for the Clio 182. And as for the 0-60 times of the ST, the 182 does something like 6.5

Only as underpowered as a standard GPS imo.

They handle very well, drive better in every way aswell.

Think the the clios are 6.9 0-60 quoted iirc

TBH I think they're underpowered mainly because of the weight.
As i think I've said before, I'm sure my old 1.2 16v ELX was faster than my current GP. If you decided to do all this in October/November I would have considered buying yours :(

He's GP is running 190bhp and probably twice the torque of the fiesta ;).
even if it was 250bhp it couldn't keep up. you get huge power and torque gains easily from a TD, but that doesn't translate into huge acceleration gains. knocking 1.3secs off is a very big deal, 190bhp cant do that, not even close imo.

How much do you want to bet? That GP would easily out accelerate that fiesta tbh. On the twisties however :chin: completly different storey.

On the M6 to brooklands my GP was side by side with a clio 197, he must have been giving it full beans and trying his hardest but we both couldn't pull anything on eachother. Several memebers were present and vouch for this. I've made light work of standard STs in the past.

0-60 isn't a fair representation of performance on a diesel.

I think for the first time in your life your wrong!

I agree with Chris

lets settle this like boys. where shall we race?

i want video evidence

it would be interesting to use one of the GPS devices that records your journey data and then connects to your computer to give you acceleration times, just to see what a 190bhp GP can do. i bet the 60-100 time would be pretty good. those gps things dont cost much on ebay, i thought about getting one.

Aaron bought one of those that led to an afternoon of just childish car abuse but came back with some pretty interesting and believable results (y)

I think his is the Gtech

Also tells you cornering G's etc which is fun :D

No, not G-tech, Race Technology AP22 http://www.race-technology.com/ap22_2_82.html

On subject, I think the Fiesta looks great, enjoyed watching the Fiesta Rally cars as they have there own class, here and in Ireland IIRC the chassis are obviously great in them to make such a good basic product to go rallying in them.

TBH straight line speed is all very well, but as highlighted in Auto Italia last month, the petrol 120bhp T-jet GP was nearly 200kgs lighter than the 130bhp M-jet GP making it much more agile across country, and as standard a quicker car not only on paper but in real life, you just can't hide all that weight up front in diesels cars, especially FWD ones, so yes loads of torque will make it quick on a motorway in mid range, but try keeping up round the twisties, no chance.

Agreed, I didn't realise the difference in handling until I drive this particular ST this week. It drives better in every way, handling is responsive with excellent feedback through the wheel, very enjoyable power delivery and much more fun than the GP. The GP is good in its own right, which is a lazy motorway overtaker, but in the bends its not at its best.
