joined the club properly...
yes, I am now officially a multi Panda owner:eek: he's not much to look at but meet 'scruffbag' my 'new' '93 CLX in ..sort of orange, and patchy black.

bought this morning. Now all I've got to do is actually retrieve the little blighter as he's currently a non runner, get him home and figure out if I've bought a car or a load of spares.
on a very quick glance he appears to be sounder than he looks, just the usual rust spots and rusty doors, although the bonnet is a fetching shade of patchy black and doesn't fit terribly well. Only 59k on the clock and MOT'd till next year though so surely not that bad.
We'll see.
Andrew.

hmm, that nearly 50bhp seems to have been trying to fight its way out from under the bonnet, and has unfortunately knackered a driveshaft in the fight.
Interestingly, forgot to mention, the guy selling it (toonstar1977, occasional user on here, had this in the classifieds) was saying he had a mega low mileage 4x4 tucked away too he was possibly wanting shot of. Tatty body but decent mechanicals with 20k ish on the clock.
anyone still looking?

Looks like a bargain for £125.

That red should polish up nicely aswell, will make it look 10 times better(y)
hmmm, got my 'after' shot all lined up

gonna need a biiiiiiig bottle of t-cut:(

Ha! nice one! Welcome to the club. (y)

If farmyard can clean up ok I'm sure this will. Mind you, I'm quite liking the rat look :). If it's got a long mot and low mileage I'd say it was better than it looks. What are your plans for it if it turns out to be too good to break?

Brilliant, that looks like a dream come true to start tinkering with!!

Are you going to trailor it back or roadside repair the driveshaft?

WOW
Congratulation firstcar-Y10 !! - looks like it going to happen to everyone - one day...multipanda owners:)

hmmm, need to work that out, I have now located the spare driveshaft I was pretty sure I had so that helps the options. It's not far from home so vague plans to try and detach the knackered shaft and tow it back behind the wifes Octavia. Not an ideal spot for a roadside repair:confused: dunno.

plans:confused: erm, get it home and see what I've bought really. If it's an easy fix I might run it for a couple of weeks to get a feel and then see what I want to do when 'Project: Panda:cool:' week comes around mid march (I've got a week off work) Thinking probably strip the good bits off I need to get grumbles straight, clean 'em up and prep them, then swap out the knackered bits off grumbles and start repairing, rebushing etc those bits, off the car, and see if I can reassemble scruffbag from that if the body looks straight enough.
as to how I reassemble him.. 'rat look' sounds good. that's like when I deliberately and ironically make it look like I've cack handedly repaired the door bottoms with filler and hammerited them black right:eek:
grand designs eh, probably nothing like what'll happen

Na, that's not the way to do it. What you do with the rust on the doors is hide it amongst even more rust by stripping the paint off the bottom half and letting it do what comes naturally.

mmmmm that red looks like my Y10 before it got resprayed. Nice

You can get a lot done in a week off, so expect to see it looking the business by the end of March.

I had this week off but new baby and a 2 and a half year old put pay to any major progress on the Y10.

Cheers

Dave

tomorrow morning, going to go with trusty father in law (and resident bush mechanic) and see if we can just drag it home to work on. Maybe pop into Halfords on the way past for a bottle of T cut..
it's a vague plan but it's a start.
thanks for the offer HQ, appreciate it. Should be OK one way or another. Could bring it round when (if) it's running if you want a laugh though.
