going over to the VW side

who started the rat cinq thread :p

I will always hold a torch for a splitty though, if i win the lotto i will get an absolute concours one

hold on, i think Kay was joking, am sure she got time to do a few more ff members no need to get VW really :ROFLMAO:

Yeah too right... Im still waiting for my slurpie  .

As for the OP I aint going to say anything as it may be considered derogatory and flamming.

I have had a couple of VAG cars and I must say they are CRAP!

And a Polo safe?..... LMAO..

A Polo reliable?..... Again LMAO!.

I've had a Mk4 golf and a Fabia vRS both prooved to end up in the dealer twice as much as any fiat I've owned. This maybe due to me owning newer fiats than what you drive and thus being more reliable?.

You pay for what you get. Well at least with fiat you do and not VAG.

Obv. at end of day if you buy a car that is falling to bits then you should be expecting to pay out.

If OP had done research in first place perhaps they wouldnt have bought what is obv. looking like a lemon

nah its been good on this forum very good advice and help. im happy. just the cinq was messing up. im not slating off fiat because the cinq i had was quite good fun but it just wernt pleasing me enough.

If you ever get another fiat, and with VWs rep for reliability and parts prices its a possibilty, just don't buy an ancient car that wasn't screwed together properly to begin with and expect it to run without problems...then again i'm 3 fiats in the hole and considering a 4th so i'm used to knowing my mechanic on 1st name terms..his name is bill...and he hates cars with a passion after 20 years in the trade.

me, the 1.0l engine in the newer polo's is dire.

in the oldschool coupes/flatbacks it was OK (I had 2), but the newer lardier polo's require more engine to make them actually move.

the 1.0l IS FALSE ECONOMY, you'll rarely get more than 35 to the gallon out of it unless you live on a 55mph A road

the 1.4 or 1.6 are actually MORE economical, and cheaper to service, (y)

yeah that is also very true :D
its 14.4secs 0-60 on the 1.4, but would you believe its 17.9secs 0-60 on the 1.0!!! how is that allowed on public roads?!

Yeah especially on the motorway , just plain dangerous!. Would be getting overtaken by lorrys LOL!.

The 1.0L really isnt THAT slow. Well, not the mk2/3 anyway. I dont know about the mk4.

My MK2 will cruise happily at 70-80mph and doesnt take that long to get there either. its no slower than the likes of a 1.0L Uno or quite possibly even a 1.1 Punto. The only gear that doesnt do alot of 5th. 4th will get to 80mph no problem and then you can just cruise in 5th although it can accelerate and hold its speed on hills.

However, I do agree about the comments on econemy. Youll find yourself flooring it more often and giving it more power on hills than you would on a bigger engined car. I would say its more economical around town but get it out on the motorway and bigger cars really do work out more economical.

not being able to use 4th to pull it from 50- motorway speeds worrys' me.

I never change gear on the motorway, unless theres traffic or pulling off.

just don't feel the need, and it makes you get exited and takes your mind off looking around you esp if you stray into the bimmer lane :p

I really like polo's dont' get me wrong, just please test drive a few before you put money to it, seriously, 1.4 or 1.6, or diesel (if a mk3/4)
